Cibele is a business development executive with over 20 years’ international experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries.

Currently, she is Head of Business Development at Zambon Biotech SA (Switzerland), the center of excellence for external innovation, part of the Zambon group. Previously, in Zambon Pharma, she held positions as Head of Next Generation Pharma Assets, Head of Corporate Business Development Central Nervous System & Other Therapeutic Areas, and responsible for business development for USA, Russia & CIS, China, Spain & Portugal. Within her roles she has been in charge from searching & evaluating to contract negotiations and on-boarding both of mid-to-late stage clinical assets and pre-clinical early stage transformational innovations in various therapeutic areas such as Central Nervous System, Severe Respiratory and Rare Diseases for building a global product pipeline. She has also structured and managed the global out-license processes for a key corporate late stage specialty assets.

Previously, Cibele was Business Development Director at Newron Pharmaceuticals, an Italian Biotech in the CNS field brought to IPO (ticker: SWX NWRN). Her activities span the entire breadth of business development from early discovery to late stage clinical projects for both licensing and M&A.

Cibele gained an extensive international R&D experience in leading pharmaceutical multinationals as Group and Project leader in Discovery Biology (R&D) at GlaxoSmithKline, Harlow, UK and as Investigator, Discovery Chemistry (R&D), Computational and Structural sciences, Novel Methods group at SmithKline Beecham, Harlow, UK, where was she was also a member of the world-wide international team that assessed developments in the Biotech industry.

She started her professional career as a Research Associate and later as a Postdoctoral Scientist at King’s College London, UK in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Muscle Institute, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA, and The National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR), London, UK.

Cibele holds a Ph.D. in Biophysics from King’s College London and a Biotechnology Degree from the Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine, University of London, UK. She is the author of several international patents and scientific publications.
